Hot Shot CDL Training FAQs

Not always. CDL requirements depend on the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of your truck and trailer combination. However, many Hot Shot drivers eventually obtain a Class A CDL because it allows them to haul larger, more profitable loads and operate a wider variety of equipment.

Hot Shot CDL Training prepares drivers to safely operate pickup trucks and gooseneck trailers used for hauling expedited freight, vehicles, equipment, livestock, and other commercial loads. At CNS Driver Training Center, training is conducted using an F-250 truck and a 30-foot gooseneck trailer, providing real-world experience for Hot Shot operators.

A Class A CDL gives Hot Shot drivers greater flexibility and earning potential by allowing them to:

  • Haul heavier loads
  • Operate larger trucks and trailers
  • Accept more freight opportunities
  • Travel interstate without certain restrictions
  • Pursue additional trucking careers if business needs change

Our Hot Shot Trucking Class A CDL Package is $3,960 and includes:

  • 20 hours of one-on-one behind-the-wheel training
  • 40 hours of online theory training
  • Use of our training equipment
  • CDL skills testing

This provides a cost-effective alternative to many traditional CDL schools.

Students train on our F-250 automatic transmission truck paired with a 30-foot gooseneck trailer. This setup closely matches the equipment commonly used in the Hot Shot trucking industry.

Hot Shot drivers commonly haul:

  • Vehicles and cars
  • Landscaping equipment
  • Construction materials
  • Paving equipment
  • Agricultural equipment
  • Livestock
  • Expedited freight

The type and size of loads you can haul often depend on your equipment and CDL status.

Yes. Many students enroll in our Hot Shot CDL program because they want to start their own trucking business. Our training helps prepare you to obtain your Class A CDL and operate commercial vehicles legally and safely.

Traditional CDL schools often focus on semi-truck operations. Our Hot Shot training is tailored specifically to pickup trucks and gooseneck trailers, providing relevant skills and one-on-one instruction that many aspiring Hot Shot drivers find more practical and affordable.

Yes. CNS Driver Training Center specializes in personalized one-on-one behind-the-wheel instruction. This allows students to maximize driving time, receive individualized coaching, and progress at their own pace.

Training schedules vary based on student availability and experience. Our flexible scheduling options allow students to complete training around work and personal commitments rather than attending a traditional full-time CDL school.
